FMCSA MOTUS: The New USDOT Registration System

Motus is FMCSA’s new centralized USDOT Registration System. It went live in mid-May 2026 and replaces the old FMCSA Portal and URS, and SAFER snapshot data now lives in Motus as well. Carriers must link their existing USDOT and company records in Motus. Access requires a Login.gov account tied to the Company Official’s email on file with FMCSA, and an email mismatch is the most common cause of a lockout.

What You’ll Need Before You Start

  • ✓ A Login.gov account
  • ✓ The Company Official’s email on file with FMCSA
  • ✓ Your MCS-150 information
  • ✓ Articles of Organization, if ownership proof is requested

How the Linking Process Works

  1. Create or sign in to a Login.gov account using the Company Official’s email FMCSA has on file.
  2. Complete Login.gov identity verification.
  3. Sign in to Motus and start the record linking process.
  4. Link your existing USDOT number and company records to the account.
  5. Confirm your details against your MCS-150 and supply Articles of Organization if ownership proof is requested.
